Volkswagen Eos Ignition Lock Repair

Pictured is a Volkswagen Eos ignition lock replacement carried out in the suburb of Mill Park.

Our client had been experiencing some difficulties turning the ignition on and occasionally turning the key back off.

Over time the problem quickly became worse eventually leading to the car being stuck in the customers driveway.

The customers did attempt some home repairs on his Volkswagen Ignition Lock before calling, which did make things worse.

Upon arriving at the job we noticed the key wouldn’t insert fully into the ignition lock and it seemed something was obstructing the keyhole.

It turned out to be a lot of graphite powder which had been squirted and compacted in the back of the lock.

After thoroughly cleaning the graphite powder out, we were able to get the lock cylinder turned and carry out the rest of the repairs.

A brand new lock was supplied and fitted and the customer was back on the road that morning.

Symptoms of a faulty ignition lock can include the following

• Difficulty turning the ignition forward to the on position
• The lock will grind to a halt at the point of turning on the radio and releasing the steering lock
• Key becomes stuck in the ignition lock with the car still running
• Steering wheel lock not engaging when key has been removed from ignition cylinder
• Ignition cylinder is rotating 360 degrees and feels like it’s not engaging
