Volkswagen Golf MK7 Ignition Lock Repair

Volkswagen Golf MK7 Ignition Lock Repair

Pictured is a 2015 Volkswagen Golf MK7 which was presented to me with a faulty ignition lock cylinder.

The owner mentioned the key would frequently get stuck and they were unable to switch the car off.

After removing the covers that surround the ignition lock, it was apparent that someone else has previously replaced the lock.

The owner had only recently purchased the car and the history of when it was replace is unknown.

Even though the steering lock assembly didn’t look to be very old, it was not engaging the wheel steering lock when the key was removed.

The original tamper proof sheer off bolts had been removed and replaced with standard hex bolts.

In order to correct this problem, we had no other choice but to replace the ignition steering lock assembly and replace both sheer off bolts.

We’ve done a number of ignition lock repairs on Volkswagen’s that others have already fixed and customers have often had to pay twice to fix the same problem.

If you are in need of an ignition lock repair on your Volkswagen Golf MK7 or any other models with the same symptoms, give us a call.
