Unlocking A 2024 Hyundai Kona

It’s not often we get called out to unlock current year model cars.

The owner of this 2024 Hyundai Kona managed to flatten her battery overnight.

After trying to unlock the car using the keyless go and pressing the buttons on the smart key fob the car was unresponsive.

The next step was to unlock the car using the emergency key blade.

This proved to be rather difficult as the emergency key was not turning inside the lock.

On this current model Hyundai Kona, the emergency key blade is seperate from the smart key fob. It kinda resembles a USB flash drive.

I came to the conclusion that it’s possible the key blade was mixed up with another Kona before handover.

With the car using a new style half cut high security key profile, we were able to pick the drivers door lock open to confirm the lock bitting was different from the key.

Our customer was relieved to have her car unlocked without a single mark on it.
